SIYH Planning Columbus BlueJackets Trip

We've been offered the opportunity to go over to Columbus, Ohio for a Blue Jackets game on January 2nd, 2010.  The Blue Jackets will host the Colorado Avalanche at 7:00pm.  Tickets will cost between $20 and $30 each (pending on where we sit).  Final ticket prices will be announced after the final head count is tallied.  We may also be able to get everyone out on the Blue Jacket's practice ice rink for a little skate-around so plan on bringing your player's skates and helmets.  Final plans will be sent out once the event is finalized.

Our schedule, and the All-Star schedule, doesn't have anything planned for that weekend so this will be a great opportunity for us to head over for the game.

Please RSVP to Jason Semmler by Friday, October 9th with your name and number of tickets needed.  Money will be collected the week of October 12th.

SIYH Community Service Project

SIYH has teamed up with the Central Indiana Hockey Associations to initiate a community outreach project called the “10,000 in 2010”.  The idea is simple; members from the Hoosier High School League, Indianapolis Racers Travel Association, Indianapolis Youth Hockey Association, Pepsi Coliseum Youth Hockey League, and the Fishers Youth Hockey Association will be organizing their players to volunteer a total of 10,000 hours of volunteered community service during the 2009-2010 hockey season.  A couple of community projects have already taken place but the official kickoff for the campaign will be Saturday, October 10th.

In order for this to be a success, we need our players to help us out.  Please see the details of this event below, and let me know if you're interested in joining us.  This will also be a great opportunity for our Bantams to meet some of the South Stars as we will be working with their organization to complete this project.

Project Location:

Concord Neighborhood Center

1310 South Meridian St .

Indianapolis , IN 46225

The project involves some physical labor and requires two groups of 15 people to work an hour and a half shift from at 9 am – 10:30 and 10:30 - noon .  Volunteers will be helping the Director of Youth Services Lynn Rogers clean a storage area out, organize what Concord Neighborhood Center decides not to sell or throw away and finally put the remaining items back.  For more information on all services the Concord Neighborhood Center provides in your community log onto their website at www.concordindy.org.

This will be a great opportunity to show that SIYH is more than just another sports organization.  With this project we have the opportunity to reach out to our local community, as well as teach our players the value of helping others.  Please volunteer if you are available
